Bullying is not funny. It is not cool. It is not right. And more importantly, it is not okay.
Most of us are, thankfully, residents of countries that support tolerance and many of our families have settled in these places simply for that reason. Generations later, it is our responsibility to perpetuate that message of tolerance across our new social platforms, including the internet.
As members of the nail polish blogging community, we all share a love of beauty, color, and lacquer. Other than that, we are remarkably different: from our race to our religion to our hair color...even to our polish application techniques. To marginalize anyone because of those differences is completely unacceptable and today I take a stand against that. I refuse to allow other people's view of "normal" dictate how I behave, believe, and blog.
In solidarity with a multitude of bloggers linked below, my purple manicure represents my proud commitment to the No H8 movement. Today, November 8, I dedicate my post to ending bullying of any kind and to encouraging diversity and imperfection among our colorful community.
Hate is never ok. How are we, as parents, supposed to teach our children that hate or bullying is not ok, when there are grown ups doing it every day? I am new to the nail polish community, so I haven't yet witnessed this going on in blogs, but it doesn't surprise me that it does. It saddens me that it goes on & it makes me mad that a grown up would be so petty. After all, it's nail polish ladies & gentlemen. I love my polish just as much as the next polish junkie does, but NONE of us are perfect. To down someone over the way they polish their nails, or because their cuticles maybe look dry or etc. is ridiculous!! The world has enough problems without you adding to them. My mother always told me 2 things, If you don't have something nice to say don't say anything at all or Don't say something about or make someone feel any way that you wouldn't want someone to make you feel!! Those are words of wisdom to live by!!
On with my purple manicure for today :)
This is Zoya Carly, it is a beautiful dark purple, metallic polish that has a silver glint in it. It is even more beautiful in person than in pictures. The picture was taken inside, under normal light, with a camera flash. You can buy Zoya polish from www.Zoya.com for about $8 a bottle. They last about a week without chipping or peeling. The application was also flawless. I am a huge fan of Zoya & would recommend it to everyone!!
This is the same Zoya Carly with Pretty & Polished Hello Dolly over top. Pretty & Polished is one of my favorite Indie polish makers!! Her glitter bomb polish is very unique & blended great with just the right amount of glitter!! It has just the right amount of thickness to it & goes on great without smearing the color under it!! You can buy her colors from her Etsy shop here: Pretty & Polished
This is just a closer view of the polish. I only used 1 coat of the Hello Dolly & it was just enough glitter for me. Usually I use 2 coats of everything, but with this polish, I was happy with just 1 coat.
I hope you all like my purple manicure for EradicateH8te day!! We, as human beings, need to stick together!! When will people realize this? When it's too late? I certainly hope not.
